Jim Gosler Announced as 2022 Fubini Award Winner

The Defense Science Board recognized James R. Gosler, the 2022 recipient of the Eugene G. Fubini Award in a ceremony Nov. 8 at the Pentagon.
The annual award, which recognizes significant contributions to the DOD in an advisory capacity over sustained period of time, was signed by Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III and presented by Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering Heidi Shyu.
Gosler has contributed significantly to the Pentagon through his exemplary advice and counsel for more than 20 years as a member of the Intelligence Community and as a distinguished member of several advisory boards, including the DSB, on issues of critical importance national defense.
As a subject-matter expert, Gosler has participated on or led more than fifteen National Security Agency Advisory Board panels and twenty DSB studies, to include co-chairing the 2018 Defense Science Board Task Force on Cyber as a Strategic Capability and the 2017 Defense Science Board Task Force on Cyber Deterrence.


His previous professional experiences include a career spanning more than thirty years at Sandia National Laboratories; an assignment at the Central Intelligence Agency as the first Director of the Clandestine Information Technology Office; and service as a United States Navy officer, from which he retired as a captain. Gosler is currently a Senior Fellow at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory.
