The Office of the Under Secretary of Defense's Innovation and Modernization Office will host an event for the Department of Defense and interagency partners to explore cutting-edge medical technologies Oct. 24 - 26 in Red Springs, North Carolina.

Thunderstorm 23-5: "Golden Hour" Innovative Medical and Casualty Logistics Event - will offer DoD and interagency personnel opportunities to discover technologies that can improve medical care and logistics during the "golden hour" of casualty treatment. The "golden hour" is a term used by medical professionals to describe period of time immediately after a traumatic injury with the highest likelihood that prompt medical and surgical treatment will prevent death.

Government medical professionals will visit exhibits, learning about innovative technologies through hands-on engagement with invited technology developers. The technological capabilities on display will focus on prolonging the window of care for casualty evacuation under extreme conditions.

"Thunderstorm events are where innovation meets opportunity," said I&M director, John Lazar. "We are happy to provide this venue to support our medical professionals across the Joint Force, especially those working in austere and contested multi-domain environments."

Bringing innovators together to showcase technologies critical to America's military is one of I&M's priorities.
